台灣是個發展的好地方嗎？

To be honest, I don't think Taiwan is a good place to make money.
老實說，我覺得台灣不是一個賺錢的好地方。

In fact, our real purchasing power is getting lower every year.
事實上，我們的實質購買力每年越來越低。

The country's GDP looks good on the surface,
國家的 GDP 表面上看起來很漂亮，

but in reality, most of the credit is concentrated in semiconductor and finance-related companies.
事實上大部分的功勞集中在半導體和金融相關的公司上。

However, people who work in these companies trade their health and leisure time for relatively high income.
但在這些公司工作的人，都是用健康與休閒時間來換取相對高的收入。

According to a survey, the median income for one of the most popular professions in the United States in 2022, "nurse", is NT$3 million per year.
一份調查顯示，2022 年美國最受歡迎的其中一個職業「護理師」的中位收入為年薪 300 萬台幣，

This figure is three times higher than that of our semiconductor engineers,
這個數字比我們的半導體工程師高出三倍，

while our nurses' average income is only NT$600,000 and they work very long hours.
而我們的護理師平均收入只有 60 萬台幣，而且工時非常長。

One nurse who went to work in the United States only needs to work three days a week.
有一位護理師去美國工作，一周只需要工作三天。

During the pandemic, she earned up to NT$2 million per month,
疫情期間，月薪甚至高達 200 萬台幣，

which is more than what Taiwanese nurses earn in three years.
一個月賺的比台灣護理師三年還多。

The recent emerging profession of AI communication specialist earns a monthly salary of 1 million New Taiwan dollars in the United States,
而最近的新職業 AI 溝通師，在美國月薪 100 萬台幣，

but only 40,000 New Taiwan dollars in Taiwan, a difference of 25 times.
但在台灣只有 4 萬台幣，相差 25 倍。

In addition, there are many problems in our workplace,

However, I think Taiwan is a good place to live.
不過，我認為台灣是一個生活的好地方。

Our food, public safety, and medical services are decent, and our information is relatively transparent.
我們的美食、治安和醫療服務還不錯，資訊也還算透明。

More importantly, the Republic of China is a democratic, rule of law, and free country,
更重要的是，中華民國是一個民主、法治與自由的國家，

making it a good choice for some foreign friends to retire and live.
因此是一些國外朋友退休生活的好選擇。
