Wind gusts are reaching 80 mph, causing drifting snow and risky travel conditions. Temperatures have plummeted, leading to dangerously low wind chills. Local authorities have issued winter storm warnings and advised residents to stay indoors and avoid all non-essential travel. Road closures and flight cancellations are widespread due to the hazardous conditions.
