00:26 1 Dying, Father Zossima preaches love and shared guilt. Some expect a miracle, though Father Ferapont harshly opposes him. Zossima urges Alyosha to return to town and support his family. Alyosha agrees.
24:09 2 Alyosha returns to find his father alone, boasting he'll live long and spend lavishly on young women to maintain his sensual lifestyle. He declares his desire to remain a sensualist until death. Alyosha leaves.
34:38 3 Alyosha sees schoolboys attacking a frail boy who bravely fights back before fleeing. Alyosha follows, but the boy bites him and escapes again, leaving Alyosha confused by the child's deep anger and hostility.
