“This whole tracking shot is brilliant, it’s a super-flex” - Eric

On this episode, we’re kicking off We ❤️ Movies month with a chat about the total banger that is Orson Welles’s Touch of Evil!

How absolutely off-putting is Captain Hank Quinlan in this movie? Is the opening tracking shot one of the most impressive feats in all of Old Hollywood? Wow, talk about bad luck with Janet Leigh and scuzzy, roadside motels, huh? And what on Earth was Quinlan thinking with that gross chili analogy? PLUS: Charlton Heston’s Mike Vargas purchases one product too many from the Acme Corporation!

Touch of Evil stars Charlton Heston, Janet Leigh, Joseph Calleia, Akim Tamiroff, Joanna Moore, Ray Collins, Dennis Weaver, Valentin de Vargas, Mort Mills, Victor Millan, and Orson Welles as Captain Hank Quinlan; directed by Orson Welles.
