貴生章第七十五   
民之饑，以其上食稅之多，是以饑。民之難治，以其上之有為，是以難治。民之輕死，以其上求生之厚，是以輕死。夫唯無以生為者，是賢於貴生。

七 十 五 章
　 　 民 之 饥 ， 以 其 上 食 税 之 多 ， 是 以 饥 。
　 　 民 之 难 治 ， 以 其 上 之 有 为 ， 是 以 难 治 。
　 　 民 之 轻 死 ， 以 其 上 求 生 之 厚 ， 是 以 轻 死 。
　 　 夫 唯 无 以 生 为 者 ， 是 贤 于 贵 生 。

Qīshíwǔ zhāng
mín zhī jī, yǐ qí shàng shí shuì zhī duō, shì yǐ jī.
Mín zhī nán zhì, yǐ qí shàng zhī yǒu wèi, shì yǐ nán zhì.
Mín zhī qīng sǐ, yǐ qí shàng qiúshēng zhī hòu, shì yǐ qīng sǐ.
Fū wéi wú yǐ shēng wèi zhě, shì xián yú guì shēng.

75. Rebellion
When rulers take grain so that they may feast,
Their people become hungry;
When rulers take action to serve their own interests,
Their people become rebellious;
When rulers take lives so that their own lives are maintained,
Their people no longer fear death.

When people act without regard for their own lives
They overcome those who value only their own lives.


人民在挨餓，是因為統治者苛稅太多，所以人民吃不飽。
人民難治理，是因為統治者干涉太多，所以人民不好管理。
人民不在乎死，因為他們過於強烈追求生活，所以會輕視死亡。
唯有不執著於生命的人，比那些過份看重生命的人更積極。

人民在挨饿，是因为统治者苛税太多，所以人民吃不饱。
人民难治理，是因为统治者干涉太多，所以人民不好管理。
人民不在乎死，因为他们过于强烈追求生活，所以会轻视死亡。
唯有不执着于生命的人，比那些过份看重生命的人更积极。
