Bluma Zeigarnik是一名優秀的女性心理學家，當時由於她的老師Kurt Lewin在餐廳觀察到一位服務生幫客人點菜時的特殊記憶進而將這觀察交由學生Bluma Zeigarnik展開研究。

而Bluma Zeigarnik也成功地在1927年發表其研究項目，使她獲得了國際聲譽，該研究題為“論已完成和未完成的任務“ (On Finished and Unfinished Tasks)，證實了人的大腦會將未竟之事(unfinished business)存放著，直到事情完成或結束後，才會釋放資源並將其遺忘，正是蔡格尼克效應（Zeigarnik effect）的由來。
