今天大家來熟悉一下同事之間常用的慣用語。
(一) heads-up 提醒; 事情或計畫的發展狀況
我們用heads-up 來表示要別人小心，或是事先的提醒，頭抬起來的概念。
例句1: Thanks for the heads-up. 謝謝你的告知。
例句2: If you can, give me heads up before you get here. 如果可以的話，你來前先讓我知道。
(二) brush-off 不理睬別人; 對別人不友善; 忽視
這個慣用語就是像是身上有灰塵或是你身上有麵包屑，你會隨手揮一下把它弄掉，然後就不理它了，所以意思就是不搭理別人，或是無視於別人的存在那種態度。可以分開來看當動詞brush sb off或是合起來當名詞brush-off。
例句1: She gave the new assistant the brush-off. 她對於新的助理不太友善。
例句2: He was so angry that she brushed him off. 他很生氣因為她漠視他。
 (三) busybody 愛管閒事的人; 愛八卦的人
當我們用這個字的時候其實隱含的是負面的意思，不是在說一個人多忙，而是再說那個人會時常窺探別人的隱私、喜歡八卦，到處不避諱地問人私事。不過最好不要這樣叫別人，因為說人家是busybody是非常沒禮貌的說法。
例句1: She is such a busybody. 她真的是很愛管閒事的人。
例句2: How can you deal with the busybody neighbor?  你要怎麼對付愛八卦的鄰居呢?
(四) cave in 坍塌; 讓步或妥協
天然的洞穴通常久了會崩塌，所以用cave in 可以了解這個慣用語的由來。
例句1: The roof of the house caved in. 房子的屋頂坍塌了。
例句2:Parents may find themselves caving in to their children often. 父母可能常發現他們自己對小孩讓步。
 (五) cheesy 劣質的；庸俗的; 假裝的
我們用cheesy 這個字當庸俗的、刻意裝的或是便宜的劣質的是源自於美國的說法，大概是19世紀末學生的用法，不過說實在的，這個字很難由cheese聯想它代表的意思。
例句1: The movie is cheesy. 這個電影很庸俗。
例句2: She can’t stand staying in a cheesy hotel. 她受不了住在劣質的旅館。
 (六) chill out 放輕鬆; 跟朋友一起消磨時間
這個用法chill out 跟relax 或是calm down可以替換著用，也可以當成跟朋友以起消磨時間chill out，好玩的是chill out也可以用chill也能代表一樣的意思，是不是很妙呢?
例句1: Chill out! We will get it done today. 放輕鬆，我們今天就能做好。
例句2: Are you going to come chill (out) with us later? 你等會兒要跟我們出去消磨時間嗎?
