今天我們來看兩個常用的慣用語，(not) care for和 (not) cup of tea的意思，兩個慣用語都很常用正面或負面的意思。
(一) (not) care for (不) 喜歡; (不) 照顧
用care時要注意一下後面有沒有介係詞，有介係詞和沒有介係詞意思不同，而且介係詞不一樣，意思就會全然不一樣。
例句1: I don’t care for his friends. 我不喜歡他朋友。。
例句2: Would you care for another drink? 要再喝一杯嗎? 
例句3: I don’t care much for chocolate. 我不喜歡巧克力。
例句4: He spent years caring for his father. 他花很多年照顧他父親。
例句5: We need someone to care for our dog when we go traveling. 我們需要有人在我們去旅行時，幫我們照顧小狗。
看完以上的句子你會知道care for 的用法，現在我們來比較一下平常若有人說I don’t care.是什麼意思，這句I don’t care. 後面甚麼都沒加，是我不在乎的意思。並非I don’t mind. 當我說我不介意，你需要用mind，不能用I don’t care. 這樣說我不在乎，其實是很沒禮貌的說法。
那麼 I care for you. 和I care about you. 有沒有不一樣呢? 後面的介係詞不一樣! 真的意思差很多。I care for you. 是我喜歡你/我愛你。這個I care for you. 的等級就是I love you.還說不出口，可以用I care for you. 至於 I care about you. 是我關心你。我希望你沒事那種概念。
(二) (not) my cup of tea 喜歡的事物或人
英國人愛喝茶，所以可以想像這個用語是源自於英國，在19世紀的時候英國人開始使用cup of tea來表示喜歡的事物，如果用否定not one’s cup of tea就是不適合某人或是與某人品味不同。我們來看以下的幾個用法。
例句1: He is not my cup of tea. 他不是我喜歡的類型。
例句2: Reading novels is not his cup of tea. 閱讀不是他喜歡的事。
例句3: Playing video games is not my cup of tea. 打電動不是我喜歡做的事。
例句4: Eating spicy food is not my cup of tea, but my friend enjoys it. 我不喜歡吃辣，但我朋友很喜歡吃辣。
聽到這裡，我們來複習一下今日所學過的實用例句。
1. I don’t care for his friends. 我不喜歡他朋友。。
