第 七 十 七 章
天 之 道 ， 其 犹 张 弓 欤 。
高 者 抑 之 ， 下 者 举 之 ﹔有 余 者 损 之 ， 不 足 者 补 之 。
天 之 道 ， 损 有 余 而 补 不 足 。
人 之 道 ， 则 不 然 ， 损 不 足 以 奉 有 余 。
孰 能 有 余 以 奉 天 下 ， 唯 有 道 者 。
是 以 圣 人 为 而 不 恃 ， 功 成 而 不 处 ， 其 不 欲 见 贤 。

Dì qīshíqī zhāng
tiān zhī dào, qí yóu zhānggōng yú.
Gāo zhě yì yì zhī, xià zhě jǔ zhī﹔yǒuyú zhě sǔn zhī, bùzú zhě bǔ zhī.
Tiān zhī dào, sǔn yǒuyú ér bǔ bùzú.
Rén zhī dào, zé bùrán, sǔn bùzú yǐ fèng yǒuyú.
Shú néng yǒuyú yǐ fèng tiānxià, wéi yǒu dào zhě.
Shì yǐ shèngrén wéi ér bù shì, gōng chéng ér bù chù, qí bù yù jiàn xián.

77. Need
Is the action of nature not unlike drawing a bow?
What is higher is pulled down, and what is lower is raised up;
What is taller is shortened, and what is thinner is broadened;
Nature's motion decreases those who have more than they need
And increases those who need more than they have.

It is not so with Man.
Man decreases those who need more than they have
And increases those who have more than they need.

To give away what you do not need is to follow the Way.
So the sage gives without expectation,
Accomplishes without claiming credit,
And has no desire for ostentation.
上天的道，不就像張弓射箭一樣嗎？高了向下壓，低了向上舉，拉過了松一松，不足時拉一拉。
上天的道，是減少有餘的，補給不足的。人間的道卻不這樣，是損害不足的，加給有餘的。
誰能自己有餘而用來奉獻給天下呢？唯獨有道的人。
所以，聖人做事不仗恃自己的能力，事成了也不視為自己的功勞，不讓人稱讚自己有才能。
