曰春夏，曰秋冬，此四時，運不窮。
曰南北，曰西東，此四方，應乎中。
曰水火，木金土，此五行，本乎數。
十干者，甲至癸，十二支，子至亥。

Yuē chūn xià, yuē qiūdōng, cǐ sì shí, yùn bù qióng.
Yuē nánběi, yuē xī dōng, cǐ sìfāng, yīng hū zhōng.
Yuē shuǐhuǒ, mù jīn tǔ, cǐ wǔháng, běn hū shù.
Shí gàn zhě, jiǎ zhì guǐ, shí'èrzhī, zi zhì hài.

春、夏、秋、冬為四季，四季循環往復，永不停 止。
東、南、西、北為四方，這四個方位是圍繞中央位置對應存在的。
木、火、土、金、水是構成物質的五種基本要素，稱為「五行」，五行按一定的規律生出萬物。
「干支」是我國古代記 年、月、日的符號，現在農曆仍然沿用。

The four seasons are Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter. They revolve without ceasing. The four points are East, South, West, and North. They respond to the requirements of the center. The five elements which constitute all things in the world are water, fire, wood, metal, and earth. Together, they are called "Five Elements". "Heavenly Stems" and"Earthly Branches" are the ancient signs used to record year, month, and date, and they are still widely used today in Lunar Calendar in which a year is represented by the composition of two characters.
