Powered by Firstory Hosting

Rhythms of the Life 生活的節奏

Rhythms of the Life 生活的節奏

Rhythms of the Life 生活的節奏 Rhythms show up in many aspects of life. They affect the way we feel day by day or throughout the seasons. They affect our moods and attitudes deeply on a personal basis. Even the language we use to communicate with each other is able to deliver multiple meanings according to the rhythms of the sounds. In our daily activities, we may sometimes find deep satisfaction, while at other times, we are simply engaged in a boring routine, without realizing that our activities are in tune with our natural life rhythms at one time, and at another time, we may be forced to adapt (適應) to different rhythms that may not be fully natural. The earth is created with a sense of rhythms, such as night and day, fall, summer, spring, winter as well as the ocean’s tides. The human race, too, is designed to live by certain natural rhythms, like waking and sleeping, hearts and their beats, weekdays and weekends, and the REM (快速動眼期rapid eye movement) patterns, etc. Life can sometimes feel like a juggling act We all have multiple responsibilities and commitments to manage, from work to family and hobbies. It can be difficult to prioritize our time, and find the balance and harmony in our lives. Rhythm is the repeated pattern of movement in time, and it can help us create orders in our daily lives. When we develop a consistent routine, we take charge of our time and energy, eliminating distractions and increasing focus. This can lead to a greater sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. Additionally, following regular rhythms promotes better sleep patterns, healthier eating habits, and more balanced emotional states for us. Life is full of rhythms. There are many kinds of natural rhythms. For example, we feel deeply the cycles of sun and moon. The human body is replete (充滿的) with rhythmical processes, such as respiration, heartbeat, circadian (二十四小時的生理節奏) cycles, and menstrual (月經的) cycles. When we speak, we communicate not only with the words we choose, but also with the rhythms of speech. A generally slow pace creates a calm mood, whereas a quick pace suggests excitement or impatience. Moreover, our experiences of rhythms involve a sense of movements, such as foot-tapping, head-nodding, and social interactions. Rhythms even extend to the biological systems, such as the resetting of body clocks by sunlight. Therefore, the cycles of day and night influence the internal body clocks of our organisms. If our body clock falls out of the different cycle of day and night, we suffer from jetlag, which can result in tiredness, wakefulness, and irritability. Why do we care about rhythms? Actually, they connect us to the world. They play a role in listening, in language, in understanding speeches in noisy places, in walking, and even in our feelings toward one another. We experience the rhythmic changes of the seasons. Frogs croak (呱呱地叫) rhythmically to attract mates and change their rhythms to signal aggression. Walking, to us, is a rhythm, too. When walking through the woods, we simultaneously hear slow footsteps, the unfolding crunch (嘎吱作響) of leaves underfoot, and the rapid snap (劈啪地響) of a twig. Rhythms also helps us exercise as we move to keep ourselves balanced. The better we understand the biological basis of rhythms, the better we will be able to employ (使用) rhythms to improve communication and to better understand ourselves. We all know that eating a healthy diet, engaging in regular physical activity, not smoking and managing stress contribute to cardiovascular (心血管的) health. But have we ever thought about what rhythms of our daily life might do for our risk of cardiovascular disease? In fact, our daily 24-hour pattern of activity and rest, including sleep, matters. According to some studies, 37% of people who have better-than-average rest-activity rhythms have high blood pressure, and 6% have cardiovascular disease, compared to 50% and 13%, respectively, for those who have lower-than-average rhythms. It suggests that when we live our lives with regular rhythms, it is good for our health. We really need to set up our steady daily rhythms. Machines were introduced during the Industrial Revolution to optimize human output. The problem is that machines aren’t alive and, therefore, don’t operate based on the same inherent rhythms of life that we do. On the contrary, God created people with a natural work/life balance. While achieving perfect balance in all areas of our lives, we enjoy our natural rhythms of life. Research has uncovered that our heartbeat, blood pressure, body temperature, hormone levels, among other things, rise and fall in seven-day patterns. In other words, our bodies and brains need to take a rest on a weekly basis in order to be fully replenished (補充). Annual rhythms are reflected in the 4 seasons, the lunar cycles, the growth of most terrestrial (陸地的) plants and the reproduction of animals in the temperate (有節制的) zones. In our modern world, we can control most things in our life. However, there’s something deeply valuable in recognizing that there is an ebb and flow to our existence that we can’t ultimately control. All we can really do is to learn to understand the time of year, the seasons of life, and embrace it entirely. We’re not machines. We cannot choose to operate like them. And in many ways, we should adapt to the natural rhythms of our life. Powered by Firstory Hosting

Sincerity and Diligence

Sincerity and Diligence

Sincerity and Diligence Sincerity opens us to self-growth. In fact, genuine sincerity requires vulnerability and honesty about our flaws and shortcomings. By accepting and embracing our flaws and imperfections, we can come to appreciate the unique and valuable qualities that make us who we are. When we talk about sincerity, we imply the faithful expression of the real feelings that we have. It is a question of authenticity, and it has to do with the heart. If we lie to ourselves about our ability to cope with difficulty, then, we will not succeed in achieving objectives. Therefore, only by behaving sincerely toward ourselves, can we possess energy to move forward, regardless of the obstacles. A pure heart is a sincere heart. We must not be afraid to express who we are, and speak truthfully as much as we can. Moreover, that “Diligence is the mother of good luck,” said by Benjamin Franklin, also encourages us to embrace hard work, dedication, and persistence in our lives. Applying diligence in various aspects of our lives, such as education, career, relationships, and personal development, does increase the positive outcomes and new opportunities for us. We all know that Thomas Edison, the renowned American inventor, is a prime example who demonstrated immense diligence and hard work in his pursuit of innovation. Edison is credited with inventing the phonograph, the motion picture camera, and the practical electric light bulb, among numerous other inventions. However, his path to success was filled with setbacks, failures, and tireless efforts. Edison famously remarked, “Genius is one percent inspiration and ninety-nine percent perspiration,” highlighting the importance of hard work and perseverance in his achievements. In education, diligence is key to achieving academic excellence. Regular study, practice, and dedication to learning contribute to better understanding of subjects and improving grades. Diligent students often perform well in exams, and have a deeper grasp of the materials. Diligence is instrumental in career growth and success, too. Consistent effort, dedication to tasks, and a strong work ethic can lead us to recognition, promotions, and new opportunities. Diligent employees are often seen as reliable and valuable assets to their organizations. For entrepreneurs, diligence is essential in building a successful business. In sports and fitness pursuits, diligence is crucial for improvement and achievement. Regular practice, training, and maintaining discipline in fitness routines lead to enhanced skills, increased endurance, and better performance. For artists and creators, diligence in honing their craft is fundamental. Diligent practice, constant exploration, and refinement of techniques contribute to artistic growth and the creation of meaningful and impactful work. Besides, diligence in maintaining and nurturing relationships is vital for strong bonds and meaningful connections. Similarly, diligence in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, such as regular exercise, balanced nutrition, and proper sleep, leads to improved well-being and a reduced risk of health issues. Diligence needs the heart. Powered by Firstory Hosting

Ingenuity and Collaboration

Ingenuity and Collaboration

Ingenuity and Collaboration Have you ever used your imagination effectively to figure out a solution to a problem? Ingenuity (足智多謀) is a word we rarely hear it, but literally rely on it daily. Merriam-Webster Dictionary describes ingenuity as a skillful and clever invention. So, we connect ingenuity to inventiveness, which relates to a product of the imagination or a design. Actually, our daily reliance on inventions, like cars and smartphones, is thanks to the ingenuity of their creators. Even now, people are using ingenuity to work on conserving energy and improving education globally. Ingenuity can create new products, new services, and new ways of things. It also solves problems in our personal lives, our communities, and the world. Similarly, we can use ingenuity in our own lives, too. To foster ingenuity, we are more likely to come up with new and innovative solutions to problems which can help us to improve our lives. One of the best ways to use ingenuity is to be open to new ideas. This means that we are willing to think creatively and to consider different perspectives. Moreover, ingenuity requires persistence in the long run. When faced with challenges, we cleverly continue to work on a problem until it is solved. Besides, we often achieve ingenuity through collaboration. This means that we work with others to share ideas, and to build on each other’s strengths. Finally, ingenuity takes risks. We, certainly, are able to try new things, and are not afraid of failure. Failure is often a necessary part of the learning process. The future is full of possibilities, and it is up to us to use our ingenuity to shape it. Therefore, let’s challenge ourselves to think creatively and come up with new solutions to the problems we face. Opportunities for change are boundless, so we have to use our ingenuity to change the world. Nevertheless, if we still need help, we are brave enough to find collaboration.   Collaboration is all about bringing people together from different departments, locations, and teams, and then focusing their efforts on a common goal. But it can’t happen quickly unless we take some skills to effectively collaborate. When we have the chance to work together with others, we share ideas and divide the work. Thus, we can get it more done in less time. Plus, working together produces a positive and inclusive environment. When we all collaborate, we break down barriers between departments and encourage teamwork. This makes it easier to share knowledge and ideas, and helps us all get along better. Last but not least, collaboration helps us learn and innovate. When we all work together, we get to hear a bunch of different perspectives and ideas, which really spark new thinking. By pooling our knowledge and experiences, we can come up with new ways to solve problems and be more innovative. We can give each other’s feedback, and learn from each other’s successes and mistakes, which helps us all grow and learn new things. Precisely, collaboration skills are about working well with others and achieving a common goal. It’s more than just finishing a project with a group of people though. It means building relationships with others, resolving conflicts, and creating a work environment where everyone feels included and respected. One of the most important aspects of collaborating well is being open to and accepting of new ideas. When people discuss a project, each coming from a different perspective and area of expertise, there’s inevitably going to be varied ideas about how to proceed ideas that’ll be unfamiliar, new, exciting, and possibly difficult to understand. Open-mindedness are among the fundamental building blocks of collaboration. Besides, effective communication requires a substantial level of self-awareness. We have to understand others’ preferences in order to approach a collaborative situation. Further, collaboration can’t be successful unless people are able to delegate workload, take care of their responsibilities, and keep themselves organized. Another extremely important component of collaboration is being able to think long-term envision of our collaborative work. The more we know about the focus of a given project, the better equipped we’ll make it happen with others. Imagine that collaborative projects might don’t go as planned. We should persevere our goal, and adapt well to change with practice and experiences. At last, establishing a collaborative environment where friendly, constructive debate is encouraged. It’s better that we have our ingenuity to try to live a preferable world. Even more, it’s the best that through collaboration, we achieve our goals as much as we can and as soon as possible.   Powered by Firstory Hosting

Powered by Firstory Hosting
